The development teams behind the upcoming multiplatform video game, "WWE 2K15," may have underwent some changes. According to a report from Just Push Start on May 16, Visual Concepts will be the sole company working on the project. The previous installment, "WWE 2K14," was developed in tandem by Yuke's and Visual Concepts.

Last year's edition was a transitional product for the long-running series due to the original publisher, THQ, having to file for bankruptcy. As a result, WWE decide to partner with 2K Games for the release of "WWE 2K14." The new publishing company decided to keep Yuke's as the main developer while enlisting the help of Visual Concepts, the company responsible for the "NBA 2K" franchise, at the same time.

However, the report contradicts what Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, indicated in a recent earnings call. According to Game Informer, a representative revealed that Visual Concepts is "aiding" the production of "WWE 2K15," possibly suggesting that Yuke's is still the main developer of the series. Furthermore, the same website also mentioned that the video game is also coming to current-generation consoles. Although no system was specifically listed, "WWE 2K14" did come out for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

The previous games in the series have been heavily criticized by WWE fans. The community expected the switch to high-definition would result in better graphics and gameplay. Instead, the franchise has remained somewhat stagnant. "WWE 2K15" may be able to reignite the franchise, however, as it is the first game designed on the PS4 and Xbox One.

The next installment may not be coming out later this year as originally planned. 2K Games could be opting for an early 2015 release instead, possibly to coincide with the Wrestlemania 31 event that will be taking place near the end of March.
