'That's Mike Knox from the WWE...'

'Tara is a two time WWE Women's champ...'

1) For those who actually watch TNA, and dont jump on the bandwagon of 'TNA SUCKS' ...

Am I looking into this a bit too much, but are TNA/IW mentioning WWE a lot more recently?

Maybe it's just mentioning the wrestler's previous accomplishments/career's, which means they are actually telling it how it is... But seems a bit different, seeing as 'The Big E' believe that TNA doesn't exist...

Thoughts? (And feel free to call me crazy...)

Vince McMahon is secretly funding TNA, just like he did ECW in the early 90's, that's why they keeping mentioning WWE.

--Just a thought, food for thought.

TNA has always mentioned WWE or referenced it on certain occasions. AJ did it during the Clare Lynch(don't remember her name) storyline, Rhyno did it when he was in TNA, Angle did it on a few occasions, etc.

It's not something new, but something they've been doing for a while. They do it more often now though.

TNA thinks by mentioning wwe they can get their ratings up from the abysmal 1.

TNA mentions WWE and other promotions because they're not conceited. They like to acknowledge the existence of other promotions to let other superstars build themselves off of that.

Yeah TNA doesn't care if they mention rival companies. They just do their own thing. They know the majority of their roster are all former WWE so they have no problem acknowledging it on TV.
I did find the Mike Knox one weird though. The way Tenay said it, made it sound like he invaded from WWE or something.

Yeah, TNA mentioning other promotions and WWE in particular has always been done, rather its to take shots at them or referencing superstar accomplishments for those that came from WWE.

I find it somewhat odd that Vince McMahon doesn't see that he has any competition whatsoever. He holds himself in a class in his own, yet again--he doesn't credit other promotions on any of his t.v. shows and ppvs. So, by acting as though they don't exist, (not even mentioning them by name) he doesn't allow any other rival companies to get exposure on his programming. This is part of why is he a genuis at what he does, which is part of what he does very well.

They keep mentioning Jeff Hardy is a former WWE Champion as well. When I first heard them identify Mike Knox using his WWE name, I figured they would just have him keep that because they didn't do the same when Luke Gallows was revealed as a member of Aces & 8's. Maybe they have another deal worked out where TNA can mention there WWE accomplishments but then again Mike Tenay has always doen it, I remember watching a very early TNA match from 2002 once with Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig in int and Mike referenced that he was a former Intercontinental Champion and even mentioned that he was Triple H's manager so who knows. As much as I like TNA they are not big enough to compete with WWE right now so myabe VInce doesn't let it get to him like he would have if it was WCW.

He never allows commentary to acknowledge the existance of companies like TNA, ROH and other smaller American promotions on television, but JBL especially makes mention of CMLL, AAA, AJPW, NJPW and other international companies by name quite often on Smackdown.

Nice, I hope that we can get more talents from those promotions coming into WWE with contracts. WWE could really benefit from having more diverse wrestlers/divas but WWE always has had a habit of being stuck in it's ways. Although I'm seeing more changes slowly coming around, it's been long overdue and hopefully we can bring back more fans and popularity into pro wrestling. IMO pro wrestling has been an underground topic most people usually don't speak about openly like sports, movie films, music, etc.
