According to a source, TNA plans to have AJ Styles "leave TNA wrestling" as the World Heavyweight Champion and "accept independent bookings", possibly in Japan as part his on-going storyline in the company.

(CM Punk 2011?)

TNA has already started hyping an announcement by Styles on his future with the company for Thursday's Impact tapings in Salt Lake City.

----------------------------------------------------------------

In a re-match from Bound For Glory, AJ Styles will defend the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Bully Ray this Thursday on Impact Wrestling.

Infuriated, TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter ordered the match in response to Styles capturing the strap at Sunday's pay-per-view event.

---------------------------------------------------

TNA has provided media updates on several of their talents following Sunday's Bound for Glory pay-per-view event.

AJ Styles will be evaluated by his doctor in Georgia later this week after sustaining rib cartilage damage during his match with Bully Ray. Bully Ray sustained a bruised sternum. Bobby Roode had cervical swelling (vertebrae/back) and a triceps hematoma.

Their update also mentioned that Kurt Angle refused to be evaluated by medical personnel and left the arena with his family.

Angle shows again why he is a beast. But he should really visit the doctors.

I asked a question on YahooAnswers a month ago about this subject:

http://ca.answers.ya...27144451AAhszHj

If you don't want to go there, I'll post what I said here:

Is TNA doing what WWE did with Cm Punk 2 years ago?

2 years ago Cm Punk's contract with the company was nearly up. You'd hear reports about it constantly on all those wrestling news sites, and they even talked about it on Raw/ Smackdown (something you rarely hear). It came down to Vince McMahon vs Cm Punk. His contract was up the night he won the WWE title from John Cena. He'd then miss a week and come back with a new contract and everything was all fine and dandy.

Do you think they will do that exact same storyline with Dixie and Aj Styles? Everything seems very similar... Aj Styles has been trying to cut "pipebombs" like Cm Punk did. Just like Cm Punk, Aj Styles mic was cut after Dixie got mad. Aj brings up guys like Jay Lethal, Low Ki, and Alex Shelly; Cm Punk brought up Colt Cobana, Tyson Kidd, Brodus Clay. Aj says how Dixie doesn't know how to run the company, Cm Punk said the same about Mr. McMahon. Plus plenty of other similar storylines. Not to mention Aj Styles contract I believe will be up right around the time that he has his match with Bully Ray. So if he were to win the match, he would no longer be with TNA like Punk was with WWE, and then 2 weeks later he gets a new contract and everythings back to normal.

This worked with the WWE Dixie, it won't work with TNA. You or Styles don't have the promo skills to carry this kind of feud, and since this storyline has been done just 2 years ago it's not like it will be a fresh idea or something we've never seen before (Like if it happened 10 years ago).

I bet you in 2 weeks time after the Bound for Glory PPV, Aj Styles (with Title in hand) will be back with the company and have contractual negotiations live on the show with Dixie Carter where one of his demands is to get some kind of Aj Styles ice cream bars.

Hopefully they don't do it.

I think this is going nowhere, apparently they thought that they could reproduce what wwe did, but I feel they overlooked the fact that AJ styles is no Cm punk(mic wise) and Dixie carter is no Mr. mcmahon

How are they copying WWE when WWE only half finished the storyline? CM Punk told everyone for weeks he was leaving with the title only to return a week later and it ruined what could have potentially been one of the best storylines of all time, WWE dropped the ball on it when they brought Kevin Nash into the picture and put the title on Del Rio. It made the whole "I'm leaving with the title thing" pointless. TNA have a chance to do this properly and have one hell of a storyline that could potentially make the company interesting again. AJ Styles going to Japan could bring in some huge names and be a great thing so you shouldn't judge it or say they're copying WWE when WWE dropped the ball big time. TNA could finish this and actually do it in a way that looks legit rather than claim you're leaving only to re-sign with the company half way through your last night in the company. I for one am really interested in seeing this unfold.

TNA is CLEARLY copying 2011 WWE storyline... they are so pathetic and I just hope they go out of business (or get bought by McMahon)

Some of you are so naive it's unbelievable. They're not copying anything, they're simply doing what WWE weren't able to do without ruining it and turning it into one guy insulting all the authority. Besides AJ Styles is miles better than CM Punk in the ring so I'm actually looking forward to this one. It wasn't just randomly given to us, they've been building this for a year and they'll pull off what WWE couldn't do with CM Punk.

God, the hate stemming from this thread is ridiculous....

I for one, have to agree with Dazman here, WWE did a very bad job of ending that story line, I'll give TNA a chance for this, and so should all of you.

No no no, WWE might have not ended it right but you are straight up delusional if you think TNA hasn't stole the storyline. Its stupid and unoriginal, the company is on a downward spiral.

I agree completely. I find it funny how there are so many TNA haters on the site. Did any of you actually watch BFG or any previous episodes of TNA? Probably not, and why do you all feel like only Punk can do pipe bombs? AJ is better in the ring, as Dazman said, and he's been great working in promos with Bully Ray and Dixie. You people really need to watch the damn show before you can judge.

The Storyline, so far, is clearly a copy of what WWE had done with Punk until Money In The Bank. After that, they handled it very badly though, so I hope TNA takes a different approach from here on and turns this around. BFG wasn't that enjoyable to me, something is missing in TNA right now and maybe they can either make this single storyline so intriguing that it makes up for it or expand it throughout the roster and make everyone interesting.

TNA will end up doing a better job with this unlike with WWE.

I hope so, but they haven't really "earned" my trust with storylines recently. :(

no.

But the comparisons you're making are stupid. The situations are not even close to being the same as I mentioned above. I'm not going through it again but to say they are copying WWE just because AJ Styles is "walking out with the title" is ridiculous. They are doing what WWE weren't able to do properly after it's been given some buildup rather than just give it to us and put CM Punk in the title picture out of nowhere. Just watch and I can guarantee this will end up a lot better than the attempt WWE made but then figured it would be more exciting to take the spotlight from the most interesting guy and put it on Triple H and Kevin Nash. I have all confidence with TNA on this one and I can't wait to see all you haters once this is more successful and a lot more enjoyable to watch than the Shield or the "Face Of WWE" crap they're doing now that nobody gives a damn about because neither of the guys competing for the title are the true face of WWE and they know it which to makes it a total waste of time. WWE are clueless, TNA are no better but when they actually give us something that sounds interesting, you all talk it down without even giving it a chance like the WWE PG marks you are.
