In the SDH 4.2 Forum Upgrade announcement I said that I was cooking a big unprecedent surprise for the WWE Games Community that was going to take place exclusively here on SDH! Well, here it is!

Since this is the year of the Football World Cup, SDH welcomes you to the most epic tournament in the history of the WWE Games Community: the Official WWE 2K14 World Cup, for both PS3 and Xbox 360!

- THE FORMULA -

The formula is the same as the Football World Cup:

It starts off with 8 Groups of 4 Players with Round Robin Rules.
  • Group A, B, C, D featuring Xbox 360 users.
  • Group E, F, G, H featuring PS3 users.
In each group, all four players will face every other member of that group. The matches will be played with a 15 minute Time Limit rule. Winning a match by pinfall is worth 3 points. Winning a match by DQ or Count Out is worth 2 points. Drawing a match (time limit) is worth 1 point. Losing a match is obviously 0 points. Losing a match by DQ is -1 point. The two members of each group with the most points advance to the next round.

Another factor that might going to matter in the Group Stage is the number of Finishers performed in the match (OMG moments count as finishers as well). If two or more players are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:
  • Winner of the matches between the tied players
  • Best finishers difference (performed-received) in matches between the tied players
  • Higher number of finishers performed in matches between the tied players
  • Best finishers difference (performed-received) in total
  • Higher number of finishers performed in total
Once the group stages are over, just like the World Cup, we advance to the first knockout stage.

XBOX 360 SIDE BRACKET:
1° Group A vs. 2° Group B
1° Group C vs. 2° Group D
1° Group B vs. 2° Group A
1° Group D vs. 2° Group C

PS3 SIDE BRACKET:
1° Group E vs. 2° Group F
1° Group G vs. 2° Group H
1° Group F vs. 2° Group E
1° Group H vs. 2° Group G

This is followed by the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, the third-place match (contested by the losing semi-finalists), and the final.

For the knockout stage, matches are going to be contested under No Time Limit.

So this will continue until we have one winner for Xbox 360 and one winner for PS3. If at the end we find a way to make both winner face each other, then we will determine the undisputed champion. The finals will have no time limit.

- THE PRIZE -

The winner will receive a free copy of WWE 2K15 for the console of his choosing, and a new unique and historic Forum Award to display proudly.

The "getting 2 points for DQ and Count Out victories" is a bad rule. If you're the group leader after your first two matches by 3 points and the person you face last is in 2nd, you could hit him with a chair to DQ yourself giving them only 2 points and allowing you to win the group. Same scenario could happen to get 2nd place and advance over 3rd and being knocked out of the tournament.

Other than that it sounds really fun and I'm excited to see the results, I don't think I will enter because I wouldn't want to take a spot from someone who deserves to be in it rather than me... I'm quite bad.

This wouldn't happen as Referees won't be A.I. but handpicked special referees.

I thought about it and I was split on whether to keep it or not. What I thought was, it adds an element of strategy to the group stages, which can also happen in real football, such as for example when a team always stays on defence because they only need a draw to advance, knocking out the opponent team.

But you definitely have a point. How about if we do like TNA did for their Bound For Glory Series: losing by DQ equals -1 point. That should solve the problem right?

Yeah, and have the winner gain something as well. I think it needs to total a difference of at least 3 points so that someone can't just be up by 3 points, get a DQ, and advance. In this situation they would lose a point and their opponent gains 2 which would tie them at least.

Yes exactly, win by DQ is 2 points, loss by DQ is -1 point. Works! :)

I got a question,about movesets.

Is it still ok to edit one.Say such as giving Randy Orton a knee drop as a ground grapple?

Yes, you can do that, as long as it's a realistic edit for a move that your character does in real life. :)

Will you make a separate thread that will show us the players in each group, including the rankings?
