--AJ Styles has posted the following on his Facebook page:
"Where do fans want AJ Styles to be? TNA? WWE? ROH? Japan? Lots of options. Tough decisions."
--As we reported earlier today, AJ Styles posted an interesting question on his Facebook page, asking fans if they would like to see him remain in TNA, head to WWE, ROH or elsewhere.
In an update to this developing story, PWInsider.com is reporting that Styles' TNA contract is set to expire in September, and while there has been no confirmation that he is looking to leave the company, both Styles and TNA have yet to come to terms on a new deal, and very little has been attempted by TNA to get a new deal signed.
While this would not be the first time TNA has let top talent contracts expire before re-signing them to a new deal, examples being Bobby Roode, Devon and Samoa Joe, one would think TNA would go out of its way to make sure AJ Styles is re-signed, as he has been with the company since day one.
--We recently reported that long-time TNA Wrestling star AJ Styles is coming down to the wire in his contract negotiations, and has asked fans if they would like to see him return to Ring of Honor, or possibly pursue a contract with WWE.
TNA is currently on a very tight budget, hence the summer roster cuts, including the recent release of Brooke Hogan. Two more stars coming close to the end of their contracts are Ken Anderson and Devon, who have both been with the company for several years. Anderson is said to still be negotiating a new deal, while Devon could be leaving TNA within the next few months. Devon's contract ran out in 2012 around this time, and he had been written off television until being brought back as a part of the Aces & Eights faction.
It is possible that with Anderson close to leaving, and with Devon on his way out of TNA, along with Luke Gallows allowing his contract to run out during the summer, they could be working towards the end of the Aces & Eights, with a major angle heading into Bound for Glory in October.
AJ Styles' contract issues are simply coming down to a negotiation for more money, as he has been working for TNA since day one, and does not want to be cut down in price given the recent budget issues. One former TNA wrestler told me that the feeling backstage is if Hulk Hogan's daughter Brooke could be cut to balance the budget, there are no contracts currently off the table, and everyone is being evaluated. With some of the contracts being discussed - AJ, Devon and Anderson specifically - that substantial amount of money could be used to bring many younger talents into the program, rebuilding the roster with fresh faces.
