Alex Hutchinson, creative director at Google Stadia subsidiary Typhoon Studios, said on Twitter today that he thinks streamers should pay game publishers and developers for a license to stream their games.

"Amazing to me that people are upset at someone saying that the creators of content should be allowed to make some of the money from other people using their content for profit," said Hutchinson after his comments were run through the standard gauntlet of Twitter mockery.

To be honest I don't see how this would be fair. I understand that people actually do get more information about games now. So you could watch an entire game instead of trying it out for yourself before buying. Or just lose interest because you already seen spoilers.

There isn't many things that work like this. Music and movie clips are heavily protected. But if they gave royalties for everything it would be a nightmare. Imagine WWE having to pay Pepsi because someone in the crowd had their logo on a T-Shirt. Or people doing things like make up streams and having to pay the company for using their name and brand to earn money.

I think people are too hungry for money. The gaming industry makes a killing off gamers especially now with micro transactions and purposely keeping content off for DLC. What do you people think?
