--Moments ago, TNA made a major announcement in regards to the debut of Impact Wrestling on Destination America, its new network home.
There will be a live edition of Impact on Wednesday, January 7th from 9-11 PM ET from the Manhattan Center in New York. The following week, the show will be MOVED to Friday nights from 9-11PM ET where it will remain going forward.
It was also announced that Bobby Roode will defend the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in the third and final match against Bobby Lashley at the final Wednesday night live episode on 1/7. They are advertising Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Gail Kim and Ethan Carter III for the show, which will air again with an encore immediately following the live broadcast.
--Discovery Communications, the parent company of Destination America, and Netflix are negotiating to bring it’s programming to the on demand streaming service, according to a report in Variety.com.
“”We want to do deal with them. They want to do deal with us. It’s a question of value,” said David Zaslav, speaking at an investor conference held by UBS. Discovery’s original deal in 2011 allowed Netflix to stream some of their programming.
If this new deal goes through then it could open the doors for TNA to get their programming and possibly older content on the streaming service.
Much of the WWE programming found on Netflix is now available on the WWE Network and Netflix is looking for more original programming. TNA and Netflix could be a good fit.
