The MP/SDH merge was a complete failure in my honest opinion

Sorry for interrupting you guys here, but what exactly is this merging thing?

A while back the forum merged with this forum called MP(don't know the actual name of it) and it transferred a lot of their members over here to the SDH,and a lot of MP's staff also came here and were also staff on the SDH for a while.

The machinima palooza forum? Puls3's forum? Oh.

Why didn't it work out?

We got merged with a forum named "MachinimaPalooza" back in September of last year, the owner of the other forum never contributed not even one bit after the merge, and decided to create another forum afterwards, that made most of the members of MP that were here, leave to that forum, and at the end, Andy deleted everything that had to do with MP in here.

In my experience, forums merging never works out, and that was no different.

I'm assuming the majority of guests who visit the forum do so for the WWE games section, so I'd suggest completely restricting its access to only the registered members. If they (the guests care enough), they'll sign up and there'd certainly be a better chance of them interested in posting something than it'd be otherwise. Maybe go all out and restrict the forum as a whole heavily, but that might be too risky as it may turn away the guests completely. Either way, I think you guys should take advantage of the fact that the games section is a major selling point and restrict its accessibility to lure people into signing up. Maybe tempt them further by pointing out the perks of signing up in brief (earning awards, recognitions, promotions, etc.).

Good idea,I saw there is about 2,000+(guests) active at the moment, most are most likely bots or Google ads but most of those users are actual people interested in WWE Games and what not, restricting popular guest areas is a good idea.

I do want more mature people, but I do not want this turning into a(sorry for the comparison, I hate doing this) Smacktalks where 90% of the people will make fun of you and your topics, without any sign of respect. They all have relationships with mods that allow them to say whatever they want and get you banned for calling them out on it. I fear the same exact type of people will come in and blow it up, because the forum used to be full of them. I was looking at the early postings of the "What's on your mind?" topic and I saw no deep thought or discussion whatsoever. But, if we can do something to keep the same audience while expanding it, I'm all for it.

None of the MP members ever became staff here nor was that ever gonna happen. The only exception was for Puls3 becoming a Mod because he was the owner of MP but he didn't as he never visited the site after he handed it over.

This part right here is what I can't stress enough of how much I'd hate for this to happen. I don't want a figurative barrier holding me or anyone else down from saying certain things but I hope to god it never gets that out of hand.

Nah forget it. The MP situation is history. It's done and dusted and a thing of the past. The problems were sorted in the end and there's no reason to bring it all up again. Besides, the point of this topic is to make suggestions to help SDH.

I see and I only brought it up because it was one of the reasons of the downfall of the forum.

I'm a massive fan of the idea, thanks for the response Crazy. I was thinking something similar. Anybody massively opposed to this?

Regarding current activity, we're not getting a lack of guests coming onto the forum, as we recently smashed the record for "Most Online" back in September, it's the lack of members signing up that's the problem. Possible restrictions in certain sections could solve this or prompt the guests to sign up in a more persuasive manner by perhaps including a message every time they view a new section. The one we have at the moment is good but we need more of it to get more people signing up. --- NEED MORE FEEDBACK ON HOW THIS CAN BE IMPLEMENTED

  • Limiting the guests to register in order to see an image(any image).
  • Making the WWE Creations section only available to members.

I like this too, specifically the creations side because a lot of people enjoy sharing, viewing, rating and downloading things in the creation suite. Definitely plausible to make this members-only.

Don't worry guys the first pages (I don't know how many) of "What's on your mind?" were copied from the MP forum, and I can assure you there won't be another repeat or similar situation.

---

Also, please do not be afraid of saying what you think, you won't get warned I can assure you of that. We do not mind you criticising certain things as long as you do it in appropriate manner without massive amounts of swearing. You're all mature I'm sure you understand :)

Moreover, Andy will be answering all your questions and suggestions tomorrow, so be sure to contribute so you can get any answers you deserve and want! Thanks.

Tbh it's already showing. The seperation thing I mean. On one hand, we say everyone on here should just be treated as an SDH member, yet caws gets another mention, I saw a post saying "New members will be a bad idea" and that the merge with MP is the sole reason for the forum being down as of late. I mean, yeah, sure, it was a flop indeed but it's such an... introverted and isolated mindset imo.

I remember when the Chris Benoit 7th Anniversary thread was locked due to disagreement or something. Whichever side of the coin you want to look at it from it was the most activity a topic's had in a matter of hours. It brought in actual discussion from members who usually don't post that much. Maybe a little more leniency on those types of topics in the future?

I do apologize to the one line responses, I guess I'm a little lazy. I'll agree with AgeofSandow when it comes to bringing in new people. We have a pleasant atmosphere here and there's no need to bring in some *ssholes that'll ruin it. We need to open up a bit more and be willing to talk about certain things that provoke people. That's just my point of view.

I think the the community is something that needs to change fast. Let's get to know each other more, let's do more things as groups. Actually discuss things with fellow members. Then when we have a social, active, fun and intelligent community more of the same type of people will want to join and we'll have a place worthy of showing off. We have some great ideas to get more members but like somebody has said already, a larger community doesn't necessarily mean a greater community. We need to set an example for new members to follow.

I've already said what I wanted and I hope things change. It seems like most members really do want this place to be better judging from the replies in this thread. If this place does change for the better, slowly or quickly, then I promise myself and so many others will be here as much as possible posting quality content. I'm glad you took our concerns seriously Alex, because we need help from staff. I've seen so myself many times on other forums.
