I see a lot of people around the internet these days saying that kayfabe has been shattered (at least as far as WWE is concerned), every superstar has Twitter, dirtsheets are read more and more and taken for gospel. You've got the boss talking to a crying kid out of character when he's supposed to be the bad guy. Superstars are getting more freedom in interviews. I've also seen an advertisement for a behind the scenes of Wrestlemania that is on the network.

I guess they have a valid point. What do you think?

Not completely dead, but its influence has significantly reduced, yes. I guess it's understandable too, due to the ever increasing influence of social media and all the PR work they do. Not to mention, the whole mindset of the fans about pro wrestling and its components has changed, fans are a lot 'smarter', and we're in an era where realism is a crucial aspect to everyone.

I guess it's a different time, people know the show is scripted so it's okay to show behind the scene stuff in my opinion. It won't change anything because when we are watching RAW or something, it feels real and we take away the fact that it's scripted or acting, whatever you want to call it. I think when superstars and divas are out there performing, it is real because they get sucked into the atmosphere and they become the characters they play on TV very naturally.

I honestly look at it like any other TV show I watch. Arrow and the Flash are among my favorite shows and I love seeing backstage stuff and behind the scenes looks. Doesn't bother me at all. If the product is good I'll get in to the characters and enjoy the program. If not, I'll change the channel. I look at wrestling the same way.

If pro wrestling can blur the lines between fantasy and reality than kayfabe is doing its job. Otherwise, I can't enjoy the show if it plays out like a bad movie with a predictable ending and even worse acting and writing to go along with it. When it looks transparent, its a big turn off for me, I need to be shocked and surprised and whatever drama is involved needs to pull the viewer into it without coming off too fake either.

Take five minutes to check WWE's Facebook and you'll see that it's not. Then you'll end up killing yourself from the stupidity.
