The boss of Rockstar’s parent company has admitted he ‘misspoke’ when talking about Grand Theft Auto V’s story DLC not having been announced.

Yesterday Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was pretty adamant that, ‘We haven’t discussed any story-based downloadable content’. Even going as far as to argue with an investor over the fact.

His comments seemed bizarre as Rockstar has repeatedly made reference to story DLC being released for Grand Theft Auto V at some point in the future, and even Take-Two have mentioned it before in previous investor meetings.

But according to a spokesperson Zelnick ‘misspoke’, as they admitted to Game Informer that ‘over a year ago Rockstar Games had said that they were exploring story mode content for Grand Theft Auto V’.

No further information was offered though, so it’s hard to say whether it was simply a mistake on Zelnick’s part or if he was trying to hide the fact that plans for the game’s story mode have changed. Although as ever it’s usually more accurate to assume human error rather than conspiracy.

During the investor meeting Zelnick revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has now shipped over 52 million copies worldwide, but despite that success Take-Two as a whole still made a loss of $279.5 million for the year, despite sales of over $1 billion.

Which may seem odd but, despite the colossal success of Rockstar, Take-Two’s finances have always been shaky, especially in a year when a new Grand Theft Auto isn’t released.
