Former TNA Champion Austin Aries may leave TNA in June following the next set of television tapings. Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com reports that Aries’ contract expires at the end of June, and if he doesn’t re-sign with the company, his last live bout for TNA will be held on June 28 during the “Slammiversary” Pay-Per-View.

Aries’ is slated to face off against The Wolves with “Dirty Heels” partner Bobby Roode in the fifth and final match in the “Best of Five” match series to determine the new TNA Tag Team Champions. However, even if Aries does no sign with the company to continue working for TNA, he will still likely be featured on the five-to-six television episodes following “Slammiversary,” as TNA is going to be filming material for “IMPACT WRESTLING” before “Slammiversary” goes live on June 28.

Meltzer talks about what the future could hold from Aries if he doesn’t re-join the TNA locker room. While WWE hasn’t been interested in him in the past, perhaps he’d be welcome in NXT. Meltzer writes,

“Austin Aries’ contract expires after the next set of TV tapings. If he doesn’t sign a new deal, he’d probably finish up on the PPV with the final Wolves vs. Dirty Heels match. He’s an awesome wrestler but it’s hard to see his options.

WWE was never interested in him in the past, although I could see them using him in NXT now since he’d fit in well. But the mentality is to not sign former TNA guys, so they’d have to change that.

He could probably go to ROH, but they’re pretty full and on a tight budget, and Lucha Underground can’t do anything right now until they get the funding and TV deals to make a second season viable. He can do all the indies he wants now even if he signs a new TNA deal.”

WrestlingRumors.net will keep Aries’ contract situation updated as more details become available.

If he doesn't renew his contract then TNA could lose one of the biggest stars in their roster and that's a shame

Austin Aries' attitude is what will prevent him from being signed to a WWE contract.

Meltzer is a Moron. Aries has options. He could go to NJPW in a Heartbeat. On top of that, Lucha Underground has practically already been confirmed for a Season 2. They are on a Season's break. Nothing about "Insufficient funds". I hate this guy thoroughly. He's as reliable for Wrestling news, as Fox is reliable for Politics. They both spew Bull shit.

Meh. I lost interest of this guy when he cornered that one girl throwing his junk in her face. But good luck to him and tons of success.

TNA can't really afford to lose anyone at this point, especially not Aries. He's in the top five of their best talent right now.

He definitely won't have a problem looking for another company to work for either.
