I disagree. I frankly don't give a damn if somebody has to stay away for a while. So making a one thread for these kinda things prevents ''leaving for a while'' threads from clogging up my forum view.

I think that if ppl want/have to leave for any period of time, they should just do what they have to do. I never saw the point in announcing that your leaving for 3 days or 2 weeks....just go...and when you come back, continue doing what you were before. Though I don't mind if it gets turned into an official topic.

I don't think its a problem if somebody opens up a new topic to announce they are going away. For example, on a holdiay, for a month or something.
If its a long time then opening up a new topic about it is fine by me. If something like that is posted here, it might get overlooked.
We are like family here at the SDH, we like to know if our friends are going away for a while.
If its a short amount of time, if you are gonna be inactive for a day or 2-3 days, then you should post it in this topic.
