2015 is here, and with a new year brings a massive update for the SDH! The extreme dedication and commitment you have all shown towards the forum in recent weeks has pushed us to work super hard on a new Forum Update, or should we call it... a complete reform! Your feedback has inspired countless changes and all-around improvements across the board, in what turned out to be one of the biggest updates ever! We appreciate every single piece of feedback that was received in order to make 2015 the biggest, brightest and most prosperous year in our history. Welcome to the SDH New Year's REVOLUTION!
 
1) REVAMPED BOARD RULES

The SDH Official Board Rules have been completely revamped with several additions and changes both in content and style, including:

  • Posting Guidelines that encourage members to contribute actively and effectively to topics
  • Topics which contain religious or political beliefs are now acceptable (although still to be treated as sensible subjects)
  • Guidelines on reporting infractions
  • More details and specifics to the whole set of rules in general as well as possible exceptions
  • The Staff will always be on top of the board rules and enforce them when required, but at the same time will try to have more leniency on controversial topics.

You will find all the updates that have been made to the board rules in green color (for a limited amount of time), so that you can easily identify what's changed.
 
 
2) REVAMPED PROMOTION/DEMOTION CRITERIA

 

The requirements for being promoted to (or demoted from) the Supporter and VIP Groups have now drastically changed as well.

- NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUPPORTER GROUP APPLICATION
From 2015 onward the Supporters group will require new criteria in order to apply, and the Staff will be more selective with whom is in the group so it is continued to be reserved for the best Members who aren't VIPs.

  • 6 months of activity instead of 1 year: This has been reduced from being a member for a year, to half a year of activity. Note this doesn't mean that someone can be inactive for 5 months then come back and apply to be in the Supporters group. 6 months of sustained activity (posting) is required.
  • Post count requirement has been removed: Quality of post is considered much greater than the quantity, as stimulating and interesting debate comes from well thought out, original topics and ideas, rather than 'one-liners' which add nothing to the discussion.
  • 0 warning points for the 6 months previous to the application.
  • New and more detailed application questions

- THE INTRODUCTION OF THE "CONSIDERATION LIST":
The Staff will be more active than ever as far as looking to promote/demote members to reward them for their efforts (or punish their lack of). The "Consideration List" will be a constantly updated private list managed by the Staff that contains carefully selected members that the Staff believes could be eligible for a promotion OR a demotion. Members will be informed via PM when they are inserted or removed from this list.

  • Promotions Criteria (from Supporter to VIP):
    If Supporters are inserted in this list and then in the subsequent period of time (by normative 2 months) continue to prove with their activity that they deserve a promotion, they will be become a part of the VIP group.
     
  • Demotions Criteria:
    After 2 months (VIP) or 3 months (Supporter) of inactivity the member in question will be informed, via PM, that they have been placed upon the Consideration List for demotion. If there isn't a significant contribution from the member in the next 2 weeks, they will be demoted. The Staff will also have a 2 month inactivity deadline, but more caution and discretion will be taken towards possible demotion of Staff.
    Note: Inactivity is regarded as a lack of posting rather than the Last Active date.
     

- MODERATION "TRYOUTS":
Periodically, we will give mod powers for certain sections of the forum to Supporters/VIPs that we think have done well during the previous months. If they continue to do well in the moderating role for several months, they will be considered for a promotion to full-blown Moderators.

We have evaluated and revised the members that currently are in this position and you will find the updated roles in the new Groups Update topic.
 

 

3) THE SDH HALL OF FAME
 
With SDH turning 5 in May 2015 (can you believe its been 5 years?) we thought it was the perfect time to introduce the official SDH Hall of Fame!

  • The HOF ceremony will be held every year in May (SDH Anniversary) and every year it will see the induction of a few selected former Staff members, former VIPs or former Supporters that have played an important role in the history of the forum.
  • This will allow these members to be eventually recognized as part of a Special Group without them having to be merged with the active Supporters/VIPs Group as it was the case up until now.
  • These members will also receive a dedicated Hall of Fame Forum Award that they will always be able to keep and display in case they return as active Supporters/VIPs in the future.
  • Members of the Hall of Fame Group won't be able to access the exclusive Supporters/VIPs Room (which will continue to be reserved to only active members of those groups) and won't have any special forum privilege compared to normal members.

Stay tuned to find out in May which members are going to be the first inductees in the SDH Hall of Fame!
 

 

4) GROUPS UPDATES & MORE

With so many reforms to the Groups, we couldn't obviously miss out on a parallel Group Update! For the list of the new promotions, check out the Groups Update topic by clicking here! However, this time it also includes some changes to the actual responsabilities of the Groups:

  • Administrators
    Administrators will now have more behind the scenes administrative powers and overall control over the forum and the rest of the staff team.
     
  • Moderators
    Moderators powers are now extended to the moderation of the entire forum. This is to distinguish Staff Moderators from VIPs/Supporters that might moderate only one or a few sections.
     
  • Social Media Manager
    In addition, our Administrator TheBoy has been officially given the role of Social Media Manager to increase communication on Twitter to encourage and entice more members into interacting and joining the community.
     

5) SECTION UPDATES

 

- [NEW] "ENTERTAINMENT & MEDIA" SECTION:

As requested, we have now added this new section that will revolve around everything that regards music, movies, television and other media. Previous related threads from "Off Topic" were extracted and moved to the new section (and they're still being moved). We hope you enjoy it and we hope to see it become a successful section of the forum.

 

- MORE UPDATES:

A few more changes and additions were made to clean up the board layout and improve the forums:

  • "WWE 2K15 Creations" forum have been re-organized with the distinction between New Gen and Last Gen
  • "WWE 2K14" forums have been archived inside the "Other Wrestling Games" category
  • The "Gaming" category has been moved above the "Other Wrestling Games" category
  • The "WrestleFest" forum is now a subforum of "More Wrestling Games".
  • Two new subforums for WWE SuperCard and 5 Star Wrestling have been added inside "More Wrestling Games"
  • "Be The Booker" & "Wrestling Fan Clubs" are now subforums of "General Wrestling Discussion"
  • A prefix for "PC Gaming" has been addeed to "General Gaming Discussion" (alongside PS4, Xbox and Nintendo)

 

6) FORUM AWARDS UPDATES

 

We have revised a few awards and introduced a lot of new ones, with the intent of encouraging even more activity.

  • [NEW] HALL OF FAMER: Inducted into the SDH Hall of Fame
    As mentioned above, this will be awarded, yearly, exclusively to members that have been inducted into the SDH Hall of Fame
     
  • [UPDATED] MEMBER OF THE MONTH: Named MOTM by the Staff
    This award, as opposed to the past, is now available for ALL members, including Supporters, VIPs and Staff. In addition, the MOTM winners will now be chosen more carefully, based more on post quality above post quantity.
     
  • [NEW] 4 HOT TOPIC AWARDS: Started a thread that received 100/200/500/1000 replies
    This award will be assigned by the Staff or can be requested if at least one of your topics have met the requirements.

    [NEW] PINNED: Had a thread of theirs stickied
    This award will be assigned by the Staff or can be requested if at least one of your topics have met the requirements.
     
  • [NEW] MR. NICE GUY: Someone who always helps out other members with a great attitude and welcomes new members.
    This award will be assigned by the Staff.
     
  • [NEW] GRAMMAR NAZI!: Someone who is very articulate and uses proper grammar and spelling the majority of the time
    This award will be assigned by the Staff.
     
  • [NEW] SOCIALIZER: Continually hosts or participates in successful competitions and events
    This award will be assigned by the Staff and can also be requested if you meet the requirements.
     
  • [NEW] YOUTUBER: Have 5 videos published on the SDH YouTube channel
    Submit your WWE Games videos to feature on the SDH's YouTube channel. Videos can be submitted by sending me a PM. This award will be assigned by the staff.
     
  • [NEW] CREATOR: Shared 15 pieces of unique, original content in WWE 2K15 creations
    This award will be given to members that over time started at least 15 WWE 2K15 creations threads in the respective sections. They don't necessarily have to be pieces of work created by the member himself, but they can also be creations found on Community Creations, on Youtube or on other websites, that the member feels are good enough to be shared with the community (of course giving credits to the original authors). This incudes Created Superstars, Edited Superstars, Logos, Movesets, Entrances, Arenas, Modding, etc.
     
  • [UPDATED] PREDICTIONS CUP WINNER AWARD: Come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the final yearly ranking of the PPV Predictions game
    This award has now been changed compared to before where it was only necessary to win on one single PPV event to get it. Now, the award is only for members that have arrived 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the end of the season.
     
  • [NEW] WVSQ WINNER: Won a Wrestling Videogames Screenshot Quiz
    A new award has been added for the winners of this competition as well. It will be given to all previous winners.

7) MORE MISCELLANEOUS UPDATES

  • The performance and overall loading speed of the forum have been improved
  • The message at the top of the forum that invites guests to sign-up has been updated
  • The Cookie Policy has been rewritten with full details about our usage of cookies (in compliance with the EU law)
  • We now have a public "Talk to the Staff" topic where you will be able to talk in public to the Staff, if you need a question answered, wonder why a post of yours was deleted, want to host a competition or an event, need any help or want to suggest ideas, etc.

After thinking about it long and hard, we have decided against limiting guests from browsing the forum or certain sections of the forum, despite that being a suggestion. There's not an efficient nor effective way to incorporate it: it's a risk as it could have the opposite effect and discourage visitors from joining, and also it would prevent search engines from indexing the forum as well (even if we were to restrict guest navigation only after X visited pages). We might reconsider this in the future, but for now this has been put on hold.

 

The work doesn't end here though, we need full commitment from everyone this year; with the new features, reforms and updates, members will be recognised and rewarded more than ever. Thank you for being a part of the New Year's Revolution, and we hope to see an active and blossoming SDH in 2015, once again.

I hope you guys love this new update as much as we do, the Staff have spent so much time, literally hours upon hours, and words upon words discussing every minor detail and we've managed to get it to you guys whilst the New Year is still fresh. This is the year SDH changed for the better, 2015 is going to be big for us, and you guys will be recognised and rewarded for your hard work more than ever.

I forgot to say this earlier, thanks guys (especially Andy & Alex) for taking care about our home.Personally I appreciate your big efforts for us) Hopefully SDHotel would be a better place with this update & the group updates (-> when would we have the new group update? February?). It's a must for everyone in the whole world that SDH is the best forum of all time. Thanks again. :)

Btw could I request some of the awards now? Including my slammy, hot topic,etc. ?

This is probably the deepest and most ambitious update we had on the forum . A lot of hard work was put on it by all the staff members to make your suggestions become reality and to continue making the forum the Best in the World . Thanks to you for giving the ideas , I think pretty much everything is covered in this update and doesn't mean anything ...
