– The promotional poster for TNA’s upcoming Destination X pay-per-view event has been released and it features an image of the six-sided ring with the tagline “Forward To The Past.”

Posted Image

The event takes place Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Impact! Wrestling Zone in Orlando, Florida.

– Kent News in Great Britain features an article on Desmond Wolfe noting that during his absence from the squared ring, he’s kept himself busy developing a television sitcom.

He said, “The sitcom was based on an idea a friend had. It’s about a kid from Brixton in south London who gets forced to take a job doing meals on wheels in Brixham, Devon. I’m ready to pitch it if there’s any interest. I’m also acting in a community theatre play called Everybody Loves Opal, which was first performed on Broadway in the 1960s.”

Regarding his health and as it relates to his status with TNA, he said fans shouldn’t believe everything they read online.

“I can’t get into the details of my absence here and now, but there have been a few different plans to bring me back in the last few months, none of which materialized. I’m hoping for something soon though,” Wolfe said.

I think it's only for 1 night only. going back to 6 sides full time would be a really dumb move by Impact.

With the six sided ring, a lot more went on during matches. Now it seems that only two people can stand in that ring without worrying about botching their moves by hitting someone by mistake.

Care to back this up? Can you prove to us that TNA became a better company when they switched to the four sided ring?

actually yes. I picked this off at a forum. It sums up everything I felt about the six sided ring. I would write one myself but my english vocabulary isn't good enough

I haven't jumped on the Hogan/Bischoff train much in the past year, but getting rid of that thing was a great move. Why? Because it was a gimmick, and it looked cheap. For months, I've heard people talk about how it improved match quality, when it didn't. I've heard it called original, which it wasn't. I've heard it called an alternative to the WWE, which is total crap.

The wrestling business seems to take a great deal of pride in its history. Four sides are the norm, and it really shouldn't matter. No one has convinced me 6 sides did anything to improve the product, so I still do not see the need for such a gimmick.

So no, I don't miss it. I hated the thing when they brought it in, and just thinking about it makes me angry. I know I probably shouldn't hate it as much as I do..but I do.

and here is another one too

It was a baseless gimmick that had no viable benefit to the company. Period. No question about it. People chime off about how it became a trademark for them, but that's just not the case. It was a carnival attraction that people wanted to see simply because they had never seen it before (unless they spent time in Mexico, or watching Mexican wrestling).

Four-sided rings have always been and will always be the traditional marker for professional wrestling, and I for one am glad TNA came around and returned to it (yes, they originated with a four-sided ring).

You want six sides again? Go watch old tape of TNA, otherwise let the last in the past (where it belongs) and move forward with the rest of us!

NO offense to the people the love the ***... i mean Impact ******ing 6-sided ring but the only thing that the ring was good for were those rope/ladder type matches i forgot what they were called... the match Mr. Anderson had to compete in when he had a broken arm and couldnt climb the rope with only 1 hand i LOVED that match

HAHA!!! everyone except The Boy and Evan Bourne used Bad Word #2 the "T" word like the bad word with WWE you know what im talking about the word after Impact
Its hard to not use those two words <_<

You're referring to the "Ultimate X" match I presume? The six sided ring wasn't anything new but it had appealed to different people. I'm more traditional so I naturally favor the four sided ring. What would people want? 8 sides, 10 sides? <_<
