TNA Hit With Cease & Desist Letter Over Current Character & AJ Styles "I Did'nt Shead One Tear When I Left TNA"

TNA was apparently sent a cease and desist letter in March in regards to current performer Crazzy Steve and his stable The Decay. The cease and desist came from Ohio independent wrestler Justin Carnes. Carnes wrestled for years under the name Krimson and is claiming that TNA is, “responsible for infringement of certain copyrights that are owned and controlled by Carnes.” Carnes’ Krimson character is an evil clown.

Carnes is claiming that elements of Crazzy Steve’s performance in TNA have been lifted from his work as Krimson including the use of red mist, Steve’s mannerisms, costuming and face paint. He also states that in 2010 he created a faction known as Dead Wrestler’s Society and that Steve’s stable The Decay, “replicated the Dead Wrestler’s Society model and teamed with certain other wrestlers who were similar in style to him, which is also a blatant use of Carnes’s works.”

The cease and desist requests that TNA cease all usage of the copyrights Carnes is claiming to own and would like TNA to acknowledge in writing that they will comply by 4/6. It also notes that if TNA does not comply he could follow through with additional legal actions. TNA sources have acknowledged they did receive the letter and that it is in the hands of their legal team.

WWE star AJ Styles appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast during WrestleMania 32 weekend, and during the interview Styles spoke more about his relationship with TNA Wrestling when he decided to leave the company and sign with WWE. Styles revealed he had a chip on his shoulder when he left TNA, and added there was a big difference in how he felt when he left TNA compared to how he felt when he left New Japan Pro Wrestling:

“I didn’t shed one tear when I left TNA. I was very emotional when I left New Japan,” Styles said. He added he had nothing but respect for NJPW, and that the opportunity to work for them helped him decided to leave TNA Wrestling.

Styles also spoke in the interview about being offered a WWE deal back in 2002, but he said the offer conflicted with his family life at the time so he decided to turn it down. He also said he felt that back in 2002 he was not ready for WWE.
