THQ's owned assets - games, IP, studios - are set to be auctioned off today.

"The day has come for THQ to auction off many of its titles and studios, as today its assets are put up for auction.
Clearlake Capital currently holds THQ's assets as part of its stalking horse bids, but that million promissory note has been removed.
As such each of the individual assets can be bid for by interested parties - some of which include EA and Warner Bros - and could be sold for more than the million Clearlake has initially put on the assets.
The bids are due to start at 9AM today, with the auction being held at 3PM. A Sale Hearing will be due tomorrow (23 Jan) at 9AM.
We can't seem to find a timezone for this, however, so keep an eye on DDInvestor's Twitter feed who will be updating on the process when the auction starts."

R.I.P THQ

Could someone explain this to me,because I really don't understand these??

THQ is being made to sell their game series off to other developers, so that means they won't be publishing games for those series anymore after today, which means they won't have their name on said games series anymore.

In much briefer terms, WWE games won't be published by THQ any longer.

Come on 2K, come out and buy WWE....

EDIT: Just found out that Take-Two Interactive is at the event and they develop games for Rockstar AND 2K. They've done every famous Rockstar game and 2K Sports games. If they get WWE, we might be in business.

I'm not excited in the slightest, as regardless of where they go, it will be, most likely, the company building a new game from the ground up. Despite the flaws with this series, I don't want to lose the creation suites and the move-sets customization.

Won't said company have THQ and Yukes under there belt to still make the games? Or is Vince giving them the boot if they don't pay him the money they owe?

THQ just holds the license, it isn't exclusive to either Yukes or THQ. So if the WWE IP gets bought out, chances are, it will be an entirely new team developing. Unless THQ is bought whole and somebody funds their projects to keep going, chances are there will be an entirely new team working on the title. It's a similar situation to the UFC title. THQ held the license and had another company handle development (Yukes). When the UFC license went to EA, it's was of Yukes' hands.  It all comes down to if somebody wants to pay 60M for one of the IPs. There is the possibility, that somebody doesn't want to pay that much for the IPs and the company remains intact (under CL), and the company moves forward. But, to be honest, I don't see that happening. If you want an example of what THQ is going through, I'd look at Midway Games.

And to be honest, they do have some studios/IPs that people might pay it for. Darksiders, Saints Row, etc. But the WWE IP definitely isn't one of them, and I would be HORRIBLY surprised to see somebody take it.

The last days are near. I'm interested in seeing all the parties involved in the bidding. EA and Warner Bros. are just a few names, we have no idea who could place the final bid and win.
