As noted earlier, AJ Styles is not only accepting independent wrestling bookings in 2014, but is looking for regular bookings in the first quarter of 2014. According to reports, the reason for this is that AJ Styles will be officially parting ways with TNA next week.

The current contract that Styles is under with TNA right now is set to expire on December 16th. As of December 17th, AJ Styles will officially be a free agent.

TNA wont be the same without him. He is to TNA what John Cena is to WWE. I can't even think of a TNA without AJ Styles and if this is all about money then I can't imagine the Indies are going to be able to pay him what he wants if TNA can't and WWE doesn't seem to have much interest in him at all. Obviously this is as much TNA's decision as it is AJ's but I don't see why they would want to get rid of him and not try harder to secure a deal. AJ works just as hard now as he ever did so why should his pay check drop? I get they are in financial trouble right now but keeping guys like Robbie E and Jesse Godderz and putting titles on them while AJ wants an increase in his wage doesn't make any sense. This next week should be very interesting to say the least.

Woah big news! TNA is the house AJ Styles built so it's gonna be really different without him. I think he'll go back to ROH, or who knows he could go back to TNA sometime in the future (if they're still around). I guess he jumped the ship before it sank.

But if TNA can't afford to pay him the money that he is supposedly after, how can ROH?

I dunno maybe he just wanted to get the f out of TNA and this was his chance. He's doing all these Indy bookings so it won't all be about money for him.

Because as an independent wrestler, AJ can take as many or as few bookings as he likes. He could work for multiple promotions and shows simultaneously. ROH wouldn't need to pay him or give him a full contract. They could work pretty much date by date, which is more than likely within their budget.

I personally don't want AJ to go and be wasted in ROH with all the other WWE Lite schmucks. DGUSA on the other hand… now i'd LOVE to see him there for a few matches. Realistically, he could make a comfortable living in Japan, as shown by guys like MVP who would have been on similar earnings.

Me too. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has a new deal but TNA are keeping it a top secret allowing all the dirtsheets to talk about things they don't know which is what they do best. I'll believe he's leaving when TNA or AJ confirm it themselves. AJ said himself, don't trust what you read on the internet so he may go out of his way to sign a contract now just to prove them wrong.

This is the biggest mistake TNA can make with their already sinking company. How do you let the guy who basically IS THE face of TNA and IS the company leave? Huge mistake. This will bite them on the ass.

You all have to remember that it might not be their fault, for all we know AJ could be acting like a complete d*ck during these contract negotiations.

You really think AJ, their face, would be acting like that? I don't think so.
