Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling was a pro wrestling promotion based in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
The ATLANTIC GRAND PRIX WRESTLING promotion was founded on June 13, 1961 by unknown, and it ceased operations on April 29, 2017.
A staple of wrestling of Canada’s far eastern Maritime Provinces, Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling (AGPW) grew out of the Eastern Sports Association of Halifax, an NWA affiliate that ran in the region during the 1960s and 70s. Having existed in the region since 1961, AGPW rapidly became popular during the 1970s, under the guidance of Canadian wrestler and promoter Emile Duprée. Operating until about 1990, Duprée would partner with promotions like International Championship Wrestling, before selling AGPW to wrestlers Stephen Petitpas and Leo Burke. Unable to compete with the WWF, AGPW closed for the first time in 1990.
Thereafter, it would be revived on and off by Emile and his son René Duprée, featuring talent ranging from NWA Champion Harley Race, to a young, pre-WWE Edge and Christian.
