Wrestling Society X was a pro wrestling promotion based in Los Angeles, California, USA, operating at a State level.
The WRESTLING SOCIETY X promotion was founded on February 10, 2006 by Kevin Kleinrock & Houston Curtis, and it ceased operations on July 17, 2007.
Produced by MTV under the banner of their television production studios, Wrestling Society X (WSX) was conceptualized as a show based in broadcasting a “secret society” of wrestlers, holding matches in the hidden WSX Bunker. Unorthodox in its presentation and (often excessive) use of special effects due to running on a 30-minute block, WSX ran for one season on TV, filmed in 2006 before making air in 2007.
Due to the network’s mainstream popularity, WSX frequently included musical guests, such as Pitbull and Three 6 Mafia. After being pulled from the air on 2007 due to slouching ratings and executive disinterest, WSX ended unfinished as its first season finale never made it to television, only later being released on DVD. The promotion, a vessel of MTV’s intense “in your face” TV of the time, was an early launchpad for the careers of stars such as Tyler Black/Seth Rollins, and Matt Sydal/Evan Bourne.
