This title is for Super Lightweight division wrestlers, with weight limit between 63 kg (139 lb) to 70 kg (150 lb)
The CMLL Japan Super Lightweight Championship was retired on December 1, 2000.
A similar championship, the CMLL World Lightweight Championship, has been later introduced, which does not share the lineage with this title.
