Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre is a Major pro wrestling promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico.
The CMLL promotion was founded on September 21, 1933 by Salvador Lutteroth González.
Formerly known as Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (EMLL), CMLL is the oldest professional wrestling promotion still in operation.
CMLL is known for its extensive championship structure, including 12 World Championships across various weight divisions, six national championships, and six regional championships. The promotion's flagship event is the CMLL Anniversary Show, which has been held annually since 1934, with the most recent being the 87th Anniversary Show.
In addition to the Anniversary Show, CMLL hosts other major events throughout the year, such as Homenaje a Dos Leyendas ("Homage to Two Legends"), Sin Piedad ("No Mercy"), Sin Salida ("No Escape"), and Infierno en el Ring ("Inferno in the Ring"). CMLL also promotes a regular weekly show called Super Viernes ("Super Friday"), which has been a staple of its programming since the 1930s.
The promotion's founder, Salvador Lutteroth, built Arena Coliseo in 1943, the first venue in Mexico specifically constructed for professional wrestling.
