Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling is a Women pro wrestling promotion based in Tokyo, Japan, operating at a National level.
The TOKYO JOSHI PRO WRESTLING promotion was founded on June 4, 2012 by DDT Pro-Wrestling, Co., Ltd..
Set up as a sister promotion to DDT Pro-Wrestling, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW) was led by former Ice Ribbon booker Tetsuya Koda and wrestler Nozomi. Its initial roster was very small, and heavily applied idol culture to their wrestling, similar to other joshi promotions of the time. In early 2015, TJPW became its own promotion separate from DDT, and began to rise in popularity.
By 2016, TJPW was able to attract high quality international talent, and began to set up a yearly show in Korakuen Hall. Growing steadily to become the #2 joshi promotion behind Stardom, they’ve attracted a cult following of fans for its emphasis on comedy and crazy gimmicks. Various alumni to come from TJPW include Miyu Yamashita and Shoko Nakajima, along with American talent such as Candice LeRae. Shows from 2022 onward have been able to attract over 1000 fans in attendance, notably Grand Princess ‘24 with 2,349 in Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo Hall).
