The competition was established on October 7, 2007, and the first edition was won by Charly Manson , while the last edition took place on October 6, 2024 and was won by Chik Tormenta .
The Copa Antonio Peña is an annual tournament, named in memory of Antonio Peña, the founder of AAA, who died on 2006. It's part of the annual Antonio Peña Memorial show (renamed Héroes Inmortales starting from 2009) held annually around the anniversary of Peña's death.
The tournament consisted in a Gauntlet match featuring eight to thirteen participants.
