The WAR promotion was founded on June 28, 1992 by Genichiro Tenryu, and it ceased operations on July 16, 2000.
WAR was an indie promotion founded by Genichiro Tenryu after the downfall of SWS, during his freelancing years after unceremoniously leaving AJPW. WAR rarely had contracted workers, instead relying on freelancers and partnerships to build up their shows, including wrestlers from NJPW, FMW, and even the WWF. The company would finish promoting in 2000 with a commemorative anniversary show, with one last reunion in 2006. Tenryu would eventually return to AJPW and once again began promoting in 2010.
