The NWA North American Tag Team Championship (Los Angeles/Japan version) was contested in NWA Hollywood Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and National Wrestling Alliance, by men wrestlers.
The championship was first established on August 1, 1973, and the inaugural champion was Johnny Powers & Pat Patterson.
It functioned as NJPW's main tag team championship while also being recognized and sporadically defended in the NWA Los Angeles territory. This title was the third NWA-sanctioned championship named the "NWA North American Tag Team Championship" and was deactivated on 1982, following the establishment of the IWGP, which introduced its own branded championships within NJPW.
The NWA North American Tag Team Championship (Los Angeles/Japan version) was retired on April 23, 1981, with the final champion being Riki Choshu & Seiji Sakaguchi.
A similar championship, the IWGP Tag Team Championship, has been later introduced, which does not share the lineage with this title.
