Super World Sports was a pro wrestling promotion based in Tokyo, Japan.
The SWS promotion was founded on May 10, 1990 by Meganesuper Co., Ltd., and it ceased operations on June 19, 1992.
This company was founded by Meganesuper Co., Ltd., a glasses company that previously sponsored wrestling events for the original Universal Wrestling Federation. SWS was centered around company ace Genichiro Tenryu who just left AJPW in the company’s first talent exodus, and divided their talent into three competing stables. Ambitious but without much identity, SWS partnered with WWE and frequently swapped talent with them, notably with the appearance of Tenryu at Wrestlemania VII. Even after running a Tokyo Dome show, the company was never able to establish a solid fan base, but in its downfall, eventually led to the creation of the much more successful WAR.
