Let your Oracle make the Triple Crown and Grand Slam formats perfectly clear and official...

It’s not as clean-cut as it used to be, which is why most people get confused. WWE has quietly updated the definitions over time, especially after brand splits and the introduction of new championships. As of 2026, the Triple Crown and Grand Slam are based on title categories rather than specific belts.

For the Triple Crown, a wrestler must win a World Championship, a Tag Team Championship, and The Intercontinental Championship. World titles include the WWE Championship, Universal Championship, the original World Heavyweight Championship (2002–2013), and the current World Heavyweight Championship introduced in 2023. Tag Team Championships from any WWE brand count.

The Grand Slam requires a World Championship, a Tag Team Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the United States Championship. It does not matter which specific versions of those titles are held, as long as they fall within those categories.

In earlier eras, the Grand Slam was structured differently. During the Attitude Era, it typically included the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship/European Championship, The Hardcore Championship and Tag Team Championships. After the European Championship and Hardcore Championship were retired and new titles were introduced, including the Universal Championship and the 2023 World Heavyweight Championship, WWE shifted to a category-based system instead of fixed titles.

A wrestler such as Seth Rollins qualifies as a Grand Slam Champion because he has held a World Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, and Tag Team Championships.

WWE does not always apply these definitions consistently on television. A wrestler may technically meet the criteria but may not always be officially acknowledged at the same time, as recognition can depend on storyline presentation.

Example: Bret "The Hitman" Hart IS a Grand Slam Champion, WWE Acknowledge him as such, and it seems to be all fine and good. The issue is WWE's inconsistency.

The key issue is this: WWE Grand Slam status has evolved multiple times. Bret originally competed under a system where the required titles included the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Tag Team Championship, and the now-retired Hardcore and European Championships. At that time, the United States Championship was not part of the structure, and the criteria were different.

(It's stupid, I know. But that's why we are glad to have SDH here to add the unrecognized Champions.)

So it means that Bret Hart IS eligible for the modern format, but at the time he competed in, he didn't have the required titles.

Now another example...

The MODERN World Heavyweight Championship and the Universal Championship. Nothing is stopping them from being considered Triple Crown eligible. They are World Titles! Finn Bálor, Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman and Jey Uso are all officially recognized Triple Crown Champions.
