The championship was first established on May 13, 2007, and the inaugural champion was Kurt Angle.
This is a newer version of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, with its own distinct lineage.
The Impact Grand Championship, TNA World Heavyweight Championship (unofficial) and GFW Global Championship were previously unified into this championship.
The current champion is Trick Williams, who won the title at NXT Battleground (2025) on May 25, 2025, and has been reigning for 109 days.
