The championship was first established on December 24, 2018, and the inaugural champion was Sasha Banks & Bayley.
This is a newer version of the WWF Women's Tag Team Championship, with its own distinct lineage.
The NXT Women's Tag Team Championship was previously unified into this championship.
The current champion is Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, who won the title at WWE SummerSlam 2025 on August 2, 2025, and has been reigning for 13 days.
